Following a childhood spent playing golf at Sunkist Country Club, he attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and then University of Southern Mississippi, where he was named Player of the Year. In 1989, Kenny was named by the PGA as apprentice player of the year of the Mississippi Chapter, and he has held membership in the PGA since 1992.
After stints as assistant professional at Hickory Hills Golf Course in Gautier, Mississippi and Head Golf Professional/Director of Golf at The Broadwater in Biloxi, in 2000, he left to open Shell Landing Golf Club. Since his arrival, he has taken a new course in a relatively unknown area to one that is consistently recognized by Golf Digest and GolfWeek as one of the best in the state (currently #10 overall by Golf Digest and # 7 You Can Play by GolfWeek).

Jerry Covich, PGA

Jerry started in the business in 1973, enrolled in the PGA apprentice program the next year, and became a Class A PGA Member in 1986. He has served as Head Professional at several clubs in Mississippi including St. Andrews, Columbia, Briarwood, Hickory Hills, and Shell Landing. His passion is competing and playing championship golf, and he has won many prestigous events including The Bellande Cup Medalist 1995 and the Gulf States PGA Senior & Super Senior Championships in1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it.A native of Wingate, NC, Ben was an All-American collegiate soccer player and 15 plus year banker in Charlotte, North Carolina before moving to Mississippi and taking up the game seriously in 2019. After joining Shell Landing as a member at that time, he played/practiced long hours daily to reduce his handicap from mid double digits to scratch over a 1-2 year span and really learn the game. Since he was at the course every day, he began working part-time in the pro shop in 2020 and began as Assistant Golf Professional in July 2021. Ben assists Kenny with all of the professional responsibilities of the club, manages the cart operations team, and teaches a full slate of both youth and adult lessons while coaching one of the larger PGA Jr. Leagues in the Gulf States Section.
